Carr is pleased to share that Russell Kennedy, Como Terraces and Kokoda House Teneriffe have been shortlisted for an Australian Interior Design Award (AIDA).

Shortlisted in the Workplace Design category, Russell Kennedy is a contemporary and inclusive workplace that supports the future aims of the leading law firm.
Set within the newly refurbished 500 Bourke Street tower in Melbourne’s CBD, the new workplace for Russell Kennedy is spread across four floors, with a design that reinforces and supports the law firm’s authentic and inclusive positioning in the market.
Deciding its current office no longer supported its future workplace strategy, Russell Kennedy included Carr in the building selection and analysis of suitable sites in Melbourne’s CBD. Through an assessment of factors, such as floor plate efficiency, daylight amenities and sustainability, a detailed report was prepared with recommendations to ensure the chosen building upheld and advanced Russell Kennedy’s vision for its future workplace.

Also shortlisted is Como Terraces, which features in the Residential Design category. Set on a once-in-a-lifetime site overlooking the verdant banks of Birrarung (Yarra River), Como Terraces is a complex series of eight buildings that work with the landscape, meandering and nestling into the steep topography that falls 26 metres.
The natural material palette—featuring rammed earth, travertine stone, timber floors, and sandblasted concrete—creates an atmosphere of calm, rationality, and warmth. This is evident in the communal areas, where the pared-back design allows the materials to speak for themselves.
Inside the residences, this curated palette provides a strong foundation for residents to personalise their spaces, with the textural variations of the earthy materials offering a raw environment where light and shadow play in ways reminiscent of a cave.

Kokoda House Teneriffe has been named a finalist in the Installation Design category. Created in partnership with Cottee Parker Architects for Kokoda Property, this project redefines the apartment-buying experience through a design-driven, immersive journey that prioritises inspiration over transaction.
Merging the rich heritage of Teneriffe in Brisbane with the natural charm of its riverside setting, the installation creates a contemporary space where buyers form an emotional connection to their future home. This multi-sensory approach to storytelling enhances engagement and sets a new standard within the industry.
The AIDA program is a partnership event of the Design Institute of Australia, with winners announced at a gala presentation on Friday 6 June 2025 at Sofitel Melbourne.
We wish all the shortlisted teams the best of luck.
